In Iceland

We´ve been very busy since arriving in Iceland on Thursday. On Friday we went round to my sister´s to distribute presents and then to see my grandma (Odinn´s great grandma) in the hospital in Selfoss. Odinn was relatively well behaved at the hospital, he did run around the corridors a bit, but fortunately it´s a small hospital and the people are very friendly. On the way back we stopped for a hot dog, which is an important part of any Icelanders life. We then drove back to Reykjavík, and when we were on the mountains, Odinn started talking about seeing rainbows. I was telling him that you couldn´t see rainbows at night when it is dark, but he was adamant that there was a rainbow, and when we started looking outside we saw that he was talking about the Northern Lights! We were also lucky in having snow here when we first arrived, so Odinn could experience snow fight. It was great fun and he was very good at throwing snow at me!
There was a big family gathering planned in Selfoss today, but it had to be postponed, due to bad weather. Unfortunately, the gales have brought lots of rain, so all the snow has melted. The weather forecast is for high winds and rain on New Year´s Eve as well, which doesn´t look good for the fireworks.
